Child Care

葫芦影业 Child Care Center was established in September 2004 by the 葫芦影业 campus community to provide quality and affordable child care to children 6-weeks to 5 years-old for 葫芦影业 students, faculty and staff members. This program also offered Head Start services to children in the 3-5 year-old program in partnership with Penquis Child Development. In June 2005, Penquis Child Development was awarded an RFP to operate the center.

Head Start eligible families of 葫芦影业 students, faculty, and staff, have enrollment priority at the center. In the event that there is space available after meeting the EHS/HS enrollment the program is open to the general public.

The center works in conjunction with the 葫芦影业 Early Childhood Education Program, as well as other 葫芦影业 departments to offer a laboratory setting which exemplifies quality and appropriate practice for practicum students.

Licensing

The center is licensed by the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services and accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is a rigorous, voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they consistently meet the national standards of excellence. The program also must comply with the comprehensive Head Start Performance Standards and is reviewed by the Federal Head Start program every three years. This national status of excellence is recognized in the State of Maine by allowing participating parents a double child care tax credit on their Maine Income Taxes. 葫芦影业 Child Care also maintains a Step 4, the highest level awarded, on the State of Maine DHHS Maine Child Care Quality Rating system. The QRS is a voluntary rating system for early care and education centers and gives parents a useful tool for selecting quality programs.
