Medical radiography Applicant

INFO

Do you want to play a critical role in patient care by capturing the images doctors rely on to save lives? Are you drawn to technology and the medical field?

Applications for ºù«Ӱҵ’s Associate in Science in Medical Radiography are accepted annually from September 1 through February 1. All required materials must be received by the February 1 deadline. Early submission is encouraged to allow enough time to complete the full admissions process.

To be considered for review by the Medical Radiography Department, applicants must meet all program prerequisites and enrollment criteria listed below.

Please note that Medical Radiography is not a rolling admissions program. Final application reviews are conducted by the department, and decisions will be announced in March.

To be considered for admission to the Medical Radiography program, the following items must be received by the Admissions Office before your file is reviewed by the Radiography Admissions Committee:

  • Completed Application for Admission
Apply online between September 1 and February 1.
  • Official Transcripts
Submit transcripts from all previously attended institutions, including high school, adult education, and colleges.
    • Note: All prior college attendance must be disclosed, even if transfer credit is not being requested. Failure to report previous education may result in disqualification, dismissal, or loss of financial aid.
  • Pre-Admission Test
Completion of the HESI A2 exam is required. (If taken at ºù«Ӱҵ, results are automatically sent to the Admissions Office.)
  • Criminal Background Check
Admitted students must complete a national criminal background screening within 30 days of acceptance. This screening is required at the student’s expense.
For details, see Criminal Background Screening, or contact Stacy Green at sgreen@mainecc.edu or 207-974-4679 with questions.

Applications are scored using a rubric that includes:

  • Course grades
  • Pre-admission test scores
  • Attendance at an information session

Higher grades and test scores result in higher application scores.

To be considered for admission, all prerequisites must be successfully completed by February 1. Applications from students currently enrolled in prerequisite courses will not be reviewed until final grades are received.

  • Algebra I
  • Algebra II
  • Geometry
  • Biology with Lab
  • Physics or Chemistry with Lab
(If only one is completed, Physics is preferred)

Important Notes:

If you are currently enrolled in prerequisite or general education courses for Radiography, make sure the Admissions Committee has your course name, location, and expected completion date on file. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that final grades for any prerequisite courses taken through adult education or other colleges are sent to the Admissions Office. Adult education transcripts will not be considered unless Admissions is aware you’re enrolled in those courses. Applicants are strongly encouraged to follow up and confirm that all materials have been received—allow sufficient lead time.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to observe in a radiography department before attending an information session. This experience provides valuable insight into the role of a radiologic technologist and helps applicants make an informed decision about pursuing this career path.
